Developmental Support Worker (DSW)

Location: North York, ON
Pay Rate: $25.00/hour
Schedule: Weekends | 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Developmental Support Worker (DSW) to provide one-to-one support for a child with complex developmental and behavioral needs. The successful candidate will implement a Behavior Support Plan, provide personal care, promote skill development, and facilitate engaging home and community activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement positive behavior support strategies.

• Assist with personal care and activities of daily living.

• Support communication, social interaction, and skill development.

• Plan and lead recreational and educational activities.

• Respond to challenging behaviors using approved de-escalation techniques.

• Monitor, document, and communicate behavioral concerns.

• Work collaboratively with the family while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

Requirements

• DSW Diploma or equivalent.

• Minimum 2 years of experience supporting individuals with ASD, IDD, Cerebral Palsy, or other complex needs.

• Experience implementing Behavior Support Plans and managing complex behaviors.

• Strong communication, problem-solving, and de-escalation skills.

• Compassionate, reliable, and able to provide personal care.

Required Certifications

• Valid DSW Diploma (or equivalent)
• SMG/ NVCI/ UMAB/ GPA

• Current CPR & First Aid

• Valid Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)

• Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle (asset)
